This course is for those who would like to become pregnancy yoga teachers, or are already teaching yoga to pregnant women. We recommend that you attend the Module 1: Active Birth course before or after this module so that you have a thorough knowledge of labour and birth physiology with which to inform your classes.
Gentle meditative exercise during pregnancy is ideal preparation for the challenges of labour, birth and motherhood. Janet Balaskas pioneered the use of yoga in pregnancy in the late 1970s. Her classes inspired and informed the first active births and set the standard for pregnancy yoga as it is taught worldwide today. If you are unfamiliar with yoga practice, this course will help you to explore the possibility of a new and highly effective approach to birth preparation. If you practise or teach yoga already, this course will deepen your knowledge of how to work safely and appropriately with pregnant women.

If you are a trained pregnancy yoga teacher:

Module 2 will increase your knowledge and give you an understanding of our unique approach. You have the option of attending this 4-day course only, or progressing to Module 3 if you wish to learn from us in greater depth and go on to become an Associate of the Active Birth Centre .

If you are a beginner to this work :

While this module provides a wonderful introduction, it is not a complete training in teaching pregnancy yoga in itself. This will take more time than a four-day course provides. You will need to develop both a personal practice of yoga and the ability to teach yoga to pregnant women by progressing to complete Module 3: Pregnancy Yoga Apprenticeship.
