Breastfeeding Support

Helping you with gentle and successful breastfeeding

Lactation Consultant and breastfeeding support with Sarah Brown at the Active Birth Centre provides the help you may need for a successful and comfortable breastfeeding partnership with your baby. Some women stop breastfeeding much sooner than they would have wished, simply because they are unaware that there is help available. Lactation consultants or breastfeeding support workers provide this professional, one-to-one support and information to help women overcome breastfeeding problems.

Prevent and overcome common breastfeeding problems

Sarah Brown has been supporting mothers and their babies to breastfeed successfully and enjoyably for over 20 years. As a certified Lactation Consultant she has passed a fully credited examination set by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) and is able to provide evidence-based care to babies and mothers. This includes giving advice on good nutrition and positioning, and offering practical solutions and guidance to help solve some of the following problems:

• Painful breastfeeding, including sore and cracked nipples
• Difficulty positioning and attaching the baby to the breast
• Babies reluctant or unable to feed at the breast
• Mastitis
• Thrush
• Difficulty achieving and maintaining a good milk supply
• Meeting the challenge of breastfeeding and returning to work

Sarah provides home consultations with telephone support, and works with mothers and babies from birth through to the introduction of solid food alongside milk. Her goal is to help women make informed decisions about the way they feed their babies, and to feel comfortable and relaxed as they do this.
